My name is Aly, I am a typical 23 year old woman who loves to travel, read, write, and spend time with the people I love. I am a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend. I am a strong woman. I'm survivor. I was born with a birth defect called Spina Bifida. Growing up there were times where I would often wonder, ''Why me?'' My mom always told me, ''there is a reason for everything.'' And, ''God had a purpose for making you this way and allowing you to endure the things you have''. The older I got the more I realized that everything my mom had been telling me all this time was true. (Of course!) God has a reason for every struggle I have ever faced and any suffering I have ever endured. As my mom said: I was given this life for a reason. I believe God wants me to tell my story. Although there are still days that I struggle, I thank God for the life He has given me. I am thankful that God has allowed me to experience a little pain and suffering, and a whole lot of joy in my life so far, and I can't wait to see what His plan is for the rest of my life. My goal is to not only raise awareness about Spina Bifida, but by telling my story to also encourage everyone that no matter what you are facing in life, you can and will overcome it !
''But we rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.''
Romans 5:3-5
